For this weeks lab, we learned how to create an Excel spreadsheet with latitude longitude data that can be imported into ArcGIS Pro. We used the Add Data Tool to add XY Point Data which allows you to import csv or xlsx files. From there, I selected the X,Y coordinate columns and correlated them with the ArcGIS Pro fields for X coordinate data and Y coordinate data.
We also learned about Geocoding and created a Manatee County schools map (screenshot shown above) which was exported as a web map linked here - https://arcg.is/0nKC55. We copy and pasted Manatee County school data including address and phone information from Florida Department of Education into an Excel spreadsheet. We cleaned up the data in Excel to then import it into ArcGIS Pro. We also imported an All Lines File from the US Census Bureau website. We set up an Address Locator using the Create Locator Tool using the Street Names and Zip Codes from the data. We then geocoded the Schools table containing address data. I found that multiple of the schools had unmatched addressed which contained no candidates for rematching. So, I located the unmatched schools using Google Maps to help me find them in ArcGIS. Once I found the correct location, I switched the basemap layer to Imagery so I could see the most accurate location on the road for the school's address. Then, I used the Pick from map feature in the rematch pane to match the new address. I repeated these steps until all of the unmatched schools were located on the map and matched with the new addresses.
